As IMP moves into the new financial year we are adding many more new products and have an exciting line up on high quality canned products soon to be added to our range. We will be advising all of our existing customers of all new products by direct mail in the coming months. These products will ensure we continue to grow in double digit figures in the financial year ahead and we are very determined to maximise opportunities for you our valued customers.

Manufactures in Australia and overseas are encouraged to contact us if they have any synergetic products for which they are looking for a distributor in Australia.

Some products will experience significant price increases. Tuna has increased in price by 33% this year and in some canned products tinplate freight and product demand has put pressure on our costs. Most readers will be aware of the huge price increases in rice and wheat to name a few food commodities.

Our dairy business continue to be the major part of our business and we are pleased that our many loyal customers going back to our inception in 1992 continue to purchase from us. On the dairy product pricing scene there is a stabilising period now and we have seen prices fall somewhat in the last six to eight months although all products are well above their historical levels. With continued demand in spite of some dark shadows over the world economy prices are predicted to remain fairly firm for the foreseeable future. Global demand remains strong. Supplies remain tight as manufactures are unable to increase volumes available in the short to medium term.

Argentina continues to limit exports so domestic markets can satisfy demand. Though US milk production was up in the first part of the year production is slowing as increased cost of stockfeed and transport cut into margins. The total US milk forecast is for an and increase of 2.2 % for the 2008 year. In NZ milk production is forecast to be down 3.5% due mainly to the drought that country is experiencing. In the EU production will increase slightly due to increased quotas this year. Australian forecast is for limited to neutral growth. All these factors will combine to underpin a strong market and we do not expect to see any major weakness in pricing.

At the time of writing IMP is able to full-fill all of its dairy commitments and we do have some discretionary stock available for the domestic and export markets. IMP Going Green! I am please to announce that IMP in support of the Global initiative to cut greenhouse gasses has purchased its first small diesel car. This is an Hyundai i30 which will reduce fuel consumption and make a tiny contribution to the reduction of those harmful CO2 emissions. We support this initiative and will continue to seek opportunities to make our planet a more healthy and secure place to live.

Trade Award.

At this years NAFDA conference on the Gold Coast, IMP was awarded the Chairman's Award for the Most Improved Supplier of the year as voted by our customers. We are proud of this award and would like to congratulate all of our sales and marketing people for the company being seen as an improving and important supplier to one of our major Foodservice groups. IMP is set on improving its products and services to all of our customers and these goals remain firmly in our sights in the years ahead. Well done IMP team. Let me add. "Watch this Space."

New Retail Agent Appointments.

We pleased to confirm the appointment of Petania Foods as our Retail agent for South Australia. We welcome Mr Steve Baccanello who has had many years of experience in the Australian Food Industry. Steve is responsible for the marketing of our Retail products in SA and the Northern Territory he has already made a significant contribution to the distribution of our products to the Retail Food trade and will consolidate this in the coming months.

All Seasons Fine Food Mr Tom Heaney. Tom joins IMP after a long period in the food industry. He established a new food and confectionary business in Victoria after purchasing a small food distribution business there a few years back. He has continued to grow the business and the addition to the IMP product range will guarantee growth and stability to his company. Tom is well on the way to gaining distribution throughout Victoria and will do a great job for All Seasons and IMP I am sure all of our retail customers will congratulate Steve & Tom on their appointments and I can assure they will give them their full support in those states.
